The distinctly different experiences in the life of Raman, a man with speech impairment who works as an assistant at a tea-shop in a village in Kerala and Diyaraman, wife of American Defense Secretary and a media activist who is trying to make a documentary about the adverse impa.

The Deccan Sultans of Berar, Ahmednagar, Bidar, Bijapur and Golconda who the splinters from the erstwhile Bahmani Sultnate now unite with the common purpose to defeat of Krishnadeva Raya(NTR) and the conquest of the prosperous Vijayanagaram. They send their stooge Kanakaraj to assassinate Krishnadeva Raya, but Kanakaraj fails in his mission and is put to death. Then they planned courtesan Krishnasini. Krishnasini enters Vijayanagaram, and with her acclaimed dancing skills, manages to elicit the notice of the King, a great connoisseur of arts and beauty. She then plays her cards cleverly and besotted by her intelligent repartees and smoldering sensuousness, the susceptible King is soon a puppet in her hands. Orders are given that anyone who enters their private chamber would be beheaded and the King spends with Krishnasini's for months.

Ramankutty, a teacher with good reputation, agrees to marry his uncle's daughter. His respect goes for a toss when he changes his mind and shows interest in another cousin.

Ramankutty (Jayaram), a teacher in the village school is known as "salperu" (i.e. good reputation). Ramankutty's uncles- Narayanan (Janardhanan), Madhavan (Jagathy Sreekumar), Velayudhan (Laloo Aalex) and Shankaran (Manianpillai Raju) are in a competition to get Ramankutty to marry their respective daughters. Ramankutty agrees to marry his uncle Velayudhan's daughter (Karthika). Madhavan's daughter Sangeetha (Gayathry Jayaram) arrives from Mumbai and seeing her, Ramankutty changes his mind. On the eve of the marriage Ramankutty's reputation is shattered. Life becomes hell.

Follows the adventures of Tenali Rama, a famous court poet from the kingdom of vijaynagar.
